Net2 is a networked access control system. A networked system gives the advantages of central control, event reporting and flexible control over users' access. Each control unit is part of a network but can run independently making its own decisions and remembering events. - The Net2 nano control unit connects to the central administration PC using Paxton Access' proprietary and secure wireless technology.
Net2 nano control units can be mixed with Net2 classic and Net2 plus control units and can be added to existing Net2 installations. This will be particularly useful where wiring would prove difficult.
Control units are sold as a PCB only, within a plastic housing or mounted within a 2A plastic boxed backup power supply. The Net2 nano cannot be mounted in a metal box because of its use of wireless technology.
Installation - There is a label on the Net2 nano control unit that clearly shows colour coded connections for reader, lock, power supply etc. The unit has a dedicated lock output (includes integrated diode) and voltage free relay output and so can switch any lock or electrical device. Exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches and alarm devices may be connected.
Control units communicate to the PC via the Net2Air USB bridge or via one or more Net2Air Ethernet bridges. Paxton Access provides products to survey the site for wireless range prior to installation. There are diagnostic LED's mounted close to their relevant terminals to assist with trouble free installation.
Operation - Any changes made at the PC are immediately communicated and stored at the control unit. When a user presents their token to the reader, the control unit identifies them and permits or denies access as appropriate.
